Context

sleepyJo is a boutique hotel built around sleep. I designed the system that runs its shifts: a dashboard, task management and Joe, an AI assistant. The user is the shift manager, who juggles dozens of tasks across seven departments and is rarely at a screen.

My challenge: decide what goes on the screen and what stays a click away, tell routine from unusual, and let AI help without making the call for her.

The sleepyJo dashboard (in Hebrew): a tip from Joe at the top, occupancy, check-ins and check-outs, urgent alerts, room management, staff on shift, a calendar, and the sleep quality score

Meet Joe

An AI assistant that spots a rush before it hits.

Joe looks at all the tasks at once, suggests what to do and shows the data behind it. The call stays with the shift manager, and every chat ends with a small line: Joe can make mistakes.

Joe's button lives in the corner of every screen, so he's always one click away.

Who it's for

Two personas I built from a close look at the shift manager's role:

Keren Raz 38

Loves order, and dreads missing a task.

Needs: control

Rina Kalfon 43

A people person who wants to know she's making the right call.

Needs: confidence

Task management

Today's 31 tasks are the big number, and everything else breaks down from there: 13 open, 5 urgent, 8 in progress. The table runs the full width, and opening a task shrinks it to make room for the details, so the list never disappears.

The task management page (in Hebrew): a summary of 31 tasks, a tip from Joe, a full-width task table, a workload chart and department cards

Open task

The panel holds only what you need to act: what happened, photos, when it was opened and who's on it.

Three quick actions sit at the bottom: complete, reassign or call.

Components

The system doesn't show everything. It shows what matters now, explains why, and leaves the call with the person running the shift.
